I have been welcoming students from many countries since the mid-1990s through the UNC International Friendship Program. On Sunday, February 24, 2008, I was delighted to enjoy the Elikem African Dance Company, who performed for the International Program in its lovely home at UNC's FedEx Global Education Center.

20070203 Bharatanatyam Dance, Supriya Desai's Students, Exploris Museum, Raleigh, NC
On February 3, 2007 at Exploris Museum in downtown Raleigh, NC, my friend Supriya Desai's students gave an approximately half hour performance of classical Indian Bharatanatyam Dance. It was part of India Day at the museum, with the key event being the dedication of a life-sized statue of Mahatma Gandhi (you can see my pictures and video) ...

Kelly Kandra, whom I met when she took my cooking class, invited me to International Night at Aladdin's Grill (153 E Franklin St, Chapel Hill, NC) on Thursday February 16.
